We primarily use the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) Payment Gateway, the leading and most trusted online payment solution in Mauritius.

Through this secure gateway, we accept the following major credit and debit cards:

  • Diners Club/Discovery

Security and Transactions

  • Safety First: All online payments are processed through MCB’s secure, 3D Secure platform, ensuring your card details are protected. We never store your sensitive financial information.

  • Local and International Cards: You can use a credit or debit card issued by any local or international bank.

  • Currencies: While your payment will be processed securely in Mauritian Rupees (MUR), the MCB system may also support transactions in major foreign currencies like USD, EUR, and GBP, with the final conversion handled by your bank at the prevailing exchange rate.

As a service provider, we do not offer a traditional product warranty. Instead, we offer a Service Guarantee and adhere strictly to our Terms and Conditions to ensure your trip meets the high standards advertised.

 

Our Service Guarantee Covers:

  • Delivery of Booked Services: We guarantee that the specific trip, itinerary, inclusions, and duration (e.g., transport, entry tickets, boat type) that you paid for will be delivered as described on our website and confirmation email.

  • Guide and Staff Professionalism: We guarantee that all guides and operational staff provided by us or our trusted local partners are licensed, qualified, and professional.

  • Safety Standards: We guarantee that all tours adhere to local safety regulations and that all necessary safety equipment is available and functional (especially for water-based and adventure activities).

 

What Happens If a Service Fails?

  • Significant Deviation: If a major component of your trip is significantly altered or cancelled after the activity has begun (e.g., the planned route is closed, or a promised activity is unavailable), we will first attempt to offer a suitable replacement activity.

  • Partial Refund: If no suitable replacement can be offered, you will be entitled to a partial refund proportional to the value of the missing or failed service component.

 

Insurance (Crucial Note)

  • Operator Liability: Mauritius Discoveries and our local partners maintain standard liability insurance to cover operational risks.

  • Traveler Responsibility: This liability does not replace personal travel insurance. We strongly advise all travelers to purchase their own comprehensive travel insurance to cover personal items, medical emergencies, accident, and financial loss due to trip cancellation (for reasons not covered by our policy).

We understand that travel plans can change. Our policy is structured to be fair, balancing your needs with the operational costs we incur upon confirmation of your booking. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing via email to [Your Booking Email Address].

 

Customer Cancellation Policy

  • 100% Full Refund: You are eligible for a 100% full refund if you cancel your trip within 48 hours of the initial time of booking.

  • 50% Refund Policy: If you cancel your trip more than 48 hours after the initial time of booking, you will receive a 50% refund of the total trip cost. This charge helps cover administrative fees and costs incurred in securing your services and resources with our local partners.

  • No Refund (0%): Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled trip start time, or any no-show on the day of the activity, are considered late cancellations and are non-refundable.

 

Cancellation Due to Weather

  • If we must cancel your trip due to genuinely unsafe weather conditions (e.g., cyclone warnings or safety hazards), you will be offered a choice between a full 100% refund or rescheduling your booking to an alternative date at no extra charge.

Yes, some of our trips have specific age restrictions or physical requirements to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

  • General Policy: While many of our excursions and cultural tours are suitable for all ages, high-adventure activities (such as certain hikes, water sports, or specialized tours) may have minimum age requirements established by our partners for safety reasons.

  • Checking Requirements: The exact age limits and necessary physical requirements are explicitly detailed in the “Trip Details” or “Important Notes” section on each individual trip page. We strongly advise checking this information before completing your booking.

  • Booking for Minors: All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the tour or activity.
